Burns & Wilcox announced today that three employees have been elected to Insurance Association of Metropolitan Detroit, Inc. (IAMD) positions. IAMD is a local affiliate of the National Association of Insurance Women (NAIW). Each term began July 1.
Betty DuRocher was elected to a one-year term as president. DuRocher has been with Burns & Wilcox for five years as a claims administration supervisor. She has held various positions with IAMD, including program chair and co-chair of the association’s literacy initiative. DuRocher has been an IAMD member since 2002.
Carmen Bonnici was elected a one-year term as treasurer. Bonnici started at Burns & Wilcox in 2003 as an accounts payable specialist. In 2006, she became a premium audit specialist with USF Insurance, a Kaufman Financial Group Company. She served as IAMD director of safety/legislation for a two-year term (2005-2007). In 2006, she was awarded Rookie of the Year by IAMD. Bonnici has been member since 2004.
Melanie Elias was elected to a two-year term as marketing director. She currently is director of claims for Burns & Wilcox, a role she has held since 2002. Previously, Elias was IAMD director of public relations and has been a member since 2002.
The National Association of Insurance Women is an association of nearly 13,000 insurance professionals dedicated to the development of leaders in the insurance industry.
