Willis Re Taps Carpenter’s Summers as CEO of Global Specialties

Willis Re, an international reinsurance broker, announced the appointment of Jim Summers as chief executive officer, Global Specialties, effective immediately.

As CEO, Global Specialties, Summers will lead the strategic direction and drive growth across all specialty classes globally. Working closely with the senior leadership team, he will also help strengthen Willis Re’s global platform and support its long-term expansion plans.

A highly respected market leader with more than 40 years of experience across the Lloyd’s and international reinsurance broking markets, Summers is widely recognized for building and scaling successful specialty businesses. He brings market-leading expertise across global specialty classes, strong technical knowledge and a proven track record of developing long-standing client and reinsurer relationships, Willis Re said.

Summers joins Willis Re from Guy Carpenter, where he most recently served as deputy CEO, Global Specialties, and global head of Marine & Energy Specialty, having joined the firm in 2011. Prior to this, he was CEO of Cooper Gay and Co Ltd., following his appointment to the role in 2006.

Arch Names Felisky as Chair of Arch Insurance (UK), Arch Managing Agency

Arch Insurance International announced the appointment of Kendra Felisky as chair of the boards of Arch Insurance (UK) Ltd. (AIUK) and Arch Managing Agency Ltd. (AMAL), following the retirement of Patrick Storey from the role.

Felisky is a highly experienced independent non-executive director and insurance professional who has served on the boards of both AIUK and AMAL since February 2021, bringing five years of deep institutional knowledge of Arch to the Chair role.

Felisky has more than 20 years’ experience across actuarial, risk management and board governance roles. She combines extensive Independent non-executive director experience across the insurance sector with a strong executive track record, having been one of the leaders of the general insurance actuarial practice at Deloitte and having served as chief risk officer at Travelers.

Felisky is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the Worshipful Company of Actuaries.

He went on to thank Storey “for his outstanding contribution over the past nine years.”

Arch also announced the appointment of Jon Perkins as chair of the Board Risk Committee across AIUK and AMAL. Perkins, who also serves as independent non-executive director of both AIUK and AMAL, is a fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and former group chief actuary at Chaucer Group, where he spent more than two decades.
