Columbus, Ohio-based State Automobile Mutual Insurance Co. recently announced that Alison Coolbrith has been elected to its board of directors. Coolbrith of Bloomfield, Conn. is the principal of A&B Enterprises, a firm offering management consulting services to insurance firms, software start-ups, and institutions of higher education.
During a 30-year career with Aetna Life & Casualty, Coolbrith held senior management positions including senior vice president of small/select accounts, CEO and managing director of Aetna Reinsurance in London, and CEO of the Aetna Life & Casualty Foundation.
Coolbrith, 62, earned degrees from the University of Wisconsin (Madison) and the Hartford (Conn.) College for Women, and is a graduate of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Executive Program. She is a former chair of the board of trustees of Hartford College for Women and is currently a Regent of the University of Hartford, a board member of the Heffernan Group of Walnut Creek, Calif., and an advisor for the Council on Foundations in Washington, D.C.
