The Nebraska Department of Insurance issued a notice to insurance agents that it has adopted uniform producer licensing measures for reciprocity reasons.
The department’s announcement stated that producer lines of authority issued in prior years that are no longer consistent with NAIC reciprocity measures or Nebraska statute will no longer be used. Those lines will be migrated to current lines.
If a producer’s license is impacted, this change will not reduce the producer’s ability to sell, solicit or negotiate the same types of insurance products for which they were authorized before the change. However, continuing education requirements applicable to their license may possibly change, the department said.
Any new continuing education requirements will be exempt for the first renewal following this change.
In addition to the changes to lines of authority, the department will be migrating two license types to a recognized line of authority. This migration will include license types Producer – Group Enrollment, and Producer – Limited Property Loan.
The changes are effective Aug. 1, 2008.
