James R. Pender has resigned from Oswald Companies, concluding more than 50 years of service with the Cleveland based insurance agency.
The company, which he led for several decades, was founded by his grandfather in 1893. Pender grew the small family agency into one of the 50 largest privately held Insurance agencies in the country and today it continues to be one of the oldest and largest, employee-owned agencies in the nation.
Pender, a part time resident of Florida, will continue to serve as honorary chairman of Oswald Trippe & Co. of Fort Myers, an agency he co-founded in 1980 with Gary Trippe, CEO. The Oswald Trippe has 20 offices in Florida and North Carolina.
Pender is an officer of the Washington D.C. based, Council of Agents and Brokers. He served as past chairman of Assurex Global International, was past president of the Cleveland Chapter of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters, and taught collegiate level insurance courses for several years.
