This settlement is better than nothing, but is NOT really fair to the ticket victims – or to the residents and visitors to Missouri.
A fair settlement would have been 100% refunds and the ending of the money grab red light camera scams statewide. Red light cameras are profitable ONLY when they ticket mostly safe drivers with yellow intervals set too short for the actual approach speeds and/or ticket slow rolling right on red turns that federal research shows almost never cause crashes.
Red light cameras are a racket that would be declared completely illegal if governments were not the for-profit business partners of the for-profit scamera companies like ATS and Redflex.
