The Physician Insurers Association of America has promoted Michael C. Stinson to be its new director of government relations.
Stinson has served as the government relations representative for the PIAA for three years, and succeeds Bruce Wilson as head of that department.
Stinson spent six years as a legislative assistant on health and judiciary issues for former Sen. Dirk Kempthorne (R-Id.). Over the years, he also served in various legislative capacities for Sen. Susan Collins (R-Me.), former Sen. Steve Symms (R-Id.), and former Sen. William Cohen (R-Me.). Immediately before coming to the PIAA, he served as a federal liaison on health and welfare policy to former Gov. Mark Schweiker (R-Pa.).
The PIAA advocates on behalf of its physician-owned/operated medical liability insurer members in the areas of tort reform and insurance regulation.
