Texas-based Southwest Risk announced the promotion of Scott Whitaker as president of the firm, effective Jan. 1, 2008. He succeeds Bryan Wilburn in this role.
Whitaker will manage the daily operations of Southwest Risk’s Dallas and Houston operations and will focus on continued expansion of carrier and client relationships. Wilburn will continue as owner and chief executive officer with a specific focus on expanding the breadth of services offered by Southwest Risk.
Whitaker joined Southwest Risk in 2005 and has consistently led the company’s production efforts. He previously served as the chief financial officer for a regional sales and distribution company and was a managing partner at an agency that assembled and managed niche insurance programs. Whitaker is a 1993 graduate of Baylor University and holds a B.B.A. in Finance and a Master of Business Administration.
Southwest Risk specializes in the placement of commercial insurance for high hazard property and liability risks, with emphasis in real estate, construction and manufacturing classes.
