Developing techniques for responding to hurricanes, tornadoes and other disasters will be the focus of a new think tank at the Florida Institute of Technology.
Public and private agencies that met last week at a national disaster conference organized by the Space Coast school announced plans to open the National Center for Preparedness in March.
Clifford Bragdon, dean of University College at Florida Tech, will head the center. Bragdon said the philosophy behind the think tank is that the best way to respond to a disaster – natural or otherwise – is to prepare ahead of time.
