A small section of a four-story parking deck near SouthPark Mall in Charlotte, N.C. collapsed, but authorities say no one is hurt.
Charlotte Fire Department Captain Rob Brisley said a few cars suffered some minor damage. The deck is next to an office building, and the section fell around 8:30 a.m. on May 13 as many people were arriving for work.
Firefighters and engineers are inspecting the structure to make sure it is safe, but Brisley says it’s too early in the investigation to know what caused the collapse.
This is the second time in six months a parking deck in Charlotte collapsed. A woman was killed in December when her car crashed into the edge of the top level of the parking deck at SouthPark Mall.
