I am sorry for Ms. Rohrbach and her loved ones. I would feel absolutely terrible if I were the person who called the insurance department to report the case she was investigating.

Actually, it has been ID’d as her. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. I hope that this will bring some closure for them and I pray that he gets what he deserves! I know, I know, innocent until proven guilty but I live in the Charlotte area and they have video footage from a neighboring business where her car was found that actually initially linked him to this horrible crime. They have also stated that he was living above his means which just brings about more questions…

I’ve got to wonder what he was so afraid she’d find out that it was worth killing her over. Worst case scenario, he’s stealing premiums, and he loses his license and gets a little white collar jail time. This is unbelievable!

I agree with PRT. He was hiding something that she must have stumbled upon. He knew it would cost him his agency. So he made a decision that will now cost him the rest of his life.

Sounds like you all have convicted him before the trial. What happended to “innocent until proven guilty?”

After I posted my comment I researched the case alittle further. The agency had some problems in the 90’s and in 2004 the revenue dept suspended their operations for failure to file income tax. The investigator probably discovered their business license was suspended.

Seems to me our suspicions may be warranted.

Am I missing something…I didn’t think that you could be charged with murder unless there was body found or declared dead. She is only missing at this point.

I also missed the e-mail that everyone is mad at, but I was wondering more details about what the guy allegedly do to this woman? I’m in Iowa and this is the first I hear about this. I do agree that no one deserves to be killed for doing their jobs.

Well I live in Concord and have meet Sallie one time. There’s no crime that a insurance agent can do in the course of his business that warrents killing someone over. I’m sure the investigator that she took the place of is feeling really bad now. Not saying anyone deserves to die, but it could have been that other investigator instead of Sallie. Yesterday they found her body in SC, and it has been identified as her. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. There was alot of evidence in his office, in her car, and in his personal car that lead them to believe this guy killed her. That’s why they arrested him before she was found. Now he’ll get the death penalty over something he might have just spent a few months in jail for. So sad.

You’re right Melanie. I have been in the insurance business for over 30 yrs and I have never heard of an agent resorting to murder. It’s sad. Has you local papers been saying anything more about a possible motive? Which paper is carrying the story?

I am so sorry that Age Old Broker feels that way. There is NOTHING Sallie could have done that caused her (or anyone else, for that matter)to deserve this kind of action. If he wasn’t doing anything wrong in the first place, he would not have had anything to worry about. It would have been an investigation into a complaint and that would have been the end of it. To justify what he did by saying he had to defend his livlihood shows what kind of person you are! I hope no one is ever in that situation with you. You might want to try to go to church or at the very least, seek counseling. You are as sick as he is!

You’ve got to be kidding old broker. If you’re not, cml is right you need counseling. Do you have issues with women?
What if this happened to your wife, sister or mother? would you feel the same way?
You say you have been in a similar situation. What does that say about you?

It appears I got to this party too late to see the posting that got everyone so riled up.

I hesitate to declare a man guilty before he’s been tried, but it appears there is enough evidence against him to indict and that in itself is bad news. We can only hope that the facts come out and that justice is done.

I feel for the inspector’s family. It’s always hard losing a loved one, even worse when it’s so violently.

I am relieved that IJ removed an offensive post. for the most part, I have found these discussions to be based on professional knowledge and mostly well thought out opinion. Occassionally we get a few highly vitriolic and emotional postings but for the most part it has been civil. I am appalled that someone has bemsmirched my profession because I am insurance proud and take this very seriously. the fact is though that greed raises its ugly head in every arena of our lives. My condolences and prayers to Ms. Rohrbach’s family and her friend at the DOI. this is such a senseless tragedy…

    Good one.

I can not understand why she went by herself? Some years ago, when I would audit my clients, my company would make sure that someone else was there with me. So very sad that this had to happen.

JD, the Charlotte Observer has several articles on it. Their still is no motive released as to why he killed her, they said they don’t even know how she died. Which is sad. They had her funeral this past Sunday May 25. One of her friends said she told him that she knew her time was near.

They did find porn and blood in his office after they got a search warrent. So I don’t know if she found it and made a comment. But I do know from the news and from the papers, that there had been some peoples who’s policy’s had been canceled due to none payment. So he was keeping premiums. Which is sad, because what’s 2 or 3 years of your life spent in prison compared to dying by lethal injection now for a murder that didn’t have to happen. She was a very nice lady, she didn’t deserve to die like that. Also just a thought, i don’t know where you are from, but here in NC the investigators go into a office alone, unless they person they are investigating has previously showed behavior in the past to warrent two going out. The previous investigator must not of felt he was of any harm for a woman to go there alone. I feel so sorry for her husband and all her friends to lose such a nice lady as Sallie, especially this way. Her husband said in one interview, that when he found out she was missing he knew she was dead. I just can’t imagine a insurance agent murdering someone, but I know before you say it, but they are human, sure they are. We are all capable of murder, but we don’t go out and do it.
