Florida’s Citizens Property Insurer Offers Commercial Multi-Peril Policy

November 4, 2008

Florida’s state-backed Citizens Property Insurance Corp. will begin offering a commercial nonresidential multi-peril policy on Nov.17.

This new policy will be available to eligible nonresidential risks located statewide.

House Bill 1A from 2007 required that Citizens develop a plan to transition the existing wind-only policies of the Property Casualty Joint Underwriting Association to Citizens and required that Citizens offer commercial nonresidential coverage that was previously provided by the PCJUA. In addition, Citizens was required to begin offering commercial nonresidential insurance for basic property perils coverage.
