The developer of a mold- and water-plagued condominium complex in Manatee County alleges in a lawsuit that a handful of former and current residents conspired to hack emails and to create a website slamming the company in an effort to get it to buy back their homes.
The Bradenton Herald reported that a lawsuit filed Oct. 11 in federal court in Tampa by KB Home officials says two residents started a blog to divert traffic from the company’s website and to disparage and damage its reputation.
The blog features news stories about the severe construction issues at Willowbrook condos.
The 270-condo complex has construction deficiencies including water intrusion, sinking floors and mold.
Construction and repairs started in 2012 after dozens of units were ruled unsafe by county building inspectors.
