Alliance Produces MVR Compliance Manual for Agents and Brokers

November 1, 2005

The Alliance of Insurance Agents and Brokers has produced an MVR Compliance Manual for insurance agents and brokers.

Alliance Vice President Gary Jensen, who helped to develop the MVR Compliance Manual with Alliance President David Nielson, said, “There is no other rule book that we know of which covers the many regulations involved in the acquisition and maintenance of motor vehicle records.”

The MVR Compliance Manual was developed with the help of First Advantage/ADR — the Alliance partner that offers an exclusive electronic vehicle registration program for Alliance members.

Jensen commented that the MVR Compliance Manual reviews many pertinent questions, including:
* For how many years are agent/brokers permitted to maintain MVR records obtained for policyholders?
* How long may an agent/broker keep MVR records on prospective policyholders?

Jensen added, “The information contained in the MVR Compliance Manual will help to save agents and brokers from potential steep fines due to improper MVR record keeping.”

The MVR Compliance Manual was recently shipped to all Alliance members.

Additionally, the Alliance has recently developed several other agent/broker resources, including the Information Security Program. The Alliance is also in the process of enhancing its Agency Procedures Manual for its members.

The MVR Compliance Manual, the Information Security Program and the Agency Procedures Manual are all free resources available only to members of the Alliance. Agents and brokers interested in becoming an Alliance member are encouraged to call (866) 280-3222; or visit the Alliance Web site — www.agentsalliance.com – for a membership application.
