November 11, 2008

Jean Fleischner, vice president, product development and general counsel, CNA Global Specialty Lines, CNA Financial Corp. has been recognized and honored with a Women in Insurance Leadership Award winner at the first annual Insurance Networking News Women in Insurance Leadership Forum in Las Vegas.

Fleischner was nominated for this award by Camilion Solutions, a provider of insurance product development solutions and next-generation policy administration systems, for her instrumental role in streamlining processes, reducing costs and increasing product capacity for CNA Global Specialty Lines through the adoption of
Camilion’s technology. Fleischner spearheaded the creation of a product development team to drive product lifecycle management (PLM) processes, the company said. Now, lower risk, profitable products are being delivered to market with a 60 percent reduction in time to market – product delivery has moved from a range of 54 to 140 days to 15 to 60 days.

“Jean is highly respected by her peers and her team for her ability to
motivate and foster teamwork, champion her beliefs and act as a strategic agent of change,” said Peter Wilson, executive vice president, CNA Global Specialty Lines. “As part of Jean’s commitment to a formal product management process, she has inspired synergy, brought diverse groups from across the company together, and aligned IT and business stakeholders, positioning CNA Global Specialty Lines for success.”

Judging for the award included both the quantitative and qualitative
aspects of the nominee’s performance, as well as her overall influence on the institution, the industry and the community in which she lives and works. The judges also ranked the candidate’s performance based on one or more of the following criteria: job complexity, contribution to the institution’s top and bottom lines, ability to innovate and execute new products in new markets, shareholder value creation, corporate governance and ethics, management style,
education and on her level of community involvement.
