Carrier caution should be taken when utilizing these TNC’s. A personal drive will probably not have the assets to cover the potential liability if involved in an accident with a claimant on board. Nothing less than a licensed and commercially insured driver should be considered.

The agents who have attempted to provide insurance coverage for taxi/limo services understand the difficulty in obtaining coverage in a highly regulated industry with higher than normal hazards exist.

Most insurance companies do not wish to underwrite the inherent exposures in livery operations. Consequently every personal auto policy I have seen excludes livery operations.

The public will not be properly served or adequately protected if these operations are allowed. Is $1,000,000 enough? Does the drivers understand the risks they are assuming if coverage is excluded or inadequate in claim situations.
