Oregon Cities Are Considering Clearing Way for Uber

September 26, 2016

City officials in the Oregon cities of Bend and Redmond are looking to entice Uber to town by changing city ordinances that would pave the way for ridesharing services.

The Bulletin reported that both cities are looking into additional and changes to city code that would make it easier for transportation network companies to establish businesses.

Both Redmond and Bend will see proposals related to ridesharing before the city council in October.

Uber spokesman Jon Isaacs says Redmond will be the key to the company’s Central Oregon services, as most of the requests for service the company receives are from people who have arrived at the Redmond Airport.
