CA hasn’t raised its minimum limits in 54 years, since 1964, when the minimum limits were set at 15/30/5 (which may have been enough liability coverage in 1964, but obviously isn’t enough in 2018). In fact, in many urban areas of CA, the minimum limits have been reduced to only 10/20/3 (the old CAARP program, now called the CA Low Cost Auto program). All we are doing is thus creating a bunch of under-insured motorists. Just because you carry the legal minimum doesn’t mean you’re carrying enough to protect your assets. CA, raise limits!
I can’t believe the liability limits are so low in Florida. There are some expensive cars in that state.
