PURE

Privilege Underwriters Reciprocal Exchange (PURE), which offers customized property and casualty insurance coverage to owners of well-built, high-value homes, is expanding into Louisiana. Current agency partners in Louisiana include Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.; BancorpSouth Insurance Services Inc. (formerly Wright & Percy Insurance); Eagan Insurance Agency; Gillis, Ellis & Baker Inc.; Hartwig Moss Insurance Agency and HUB International Gulf South.

A member of the Institute for Building and Home Safety, PURE advocates for improvements in hurricane mitigation and provides premium credits to reward households that have taken steps to reduce the likelihood of loss.PURE also helps its members with loss prevention. Following a major claim, PURE’s high value homeowners policy covers the cost of repairing or replacing damaged property and, in some cases, will contribute up to $2,500 to the cost of preventing a similar loss from re-occurring.

In 2010, PURE allocated $1 million of surplus growth to its members’ subscriber savings accounts.

TMLT, Physicians Insurance

The Texas Medical Liability Trust acquired the Florida-based Physicians Insurance Co. The Deerfield Beach, Florida-based Physicians Insurance has been operating in the state since 2003. In addition to Physicians Insurance, TMLT acquired several related businesses, including Managed Insurance Services, the National Institute of Quality Assurance, the Insurance Software Design, and Insurance Innovations.

TDECU, Associated Insurance Agency

TDECU Insurance Agency LLC has acquired Associated Insurance Agency Inc. (AIA) based in Houston, Texas. The purchase was finalized Jan. 3, 2012.

AIA is an independent insurance agency that has served the Houston business community for 17 years. It currently represents more than 15 nationally recognized carriers. AIA will continue to office in its current location at 7676 Hillmont in Houston.

TDECU Insurance Agency, headquartered in Lake Jackson, Texas, is a subsidiary of Texas Dow Employees Credit Union.

Barhorst Insurance Group, Iscential

Houston-based Barhorst Insurance Group (BIG) has rebranded as Iscential. BIG was founded in 1993 as a Nationwide Insurance agency and now is a captive hybrid agency representing more than 50 insurance carriers. In 18 years, the firm has grown to more than 100 employees and over 30 locations in Texas. The agency offers a full range of insurance and financial services for families and businesses.
