IJ Goes National

October 6, 2003

Here at Insurance Journal, we are always striving to present the latest news and information that interests you most. Whether it be the current legislation affecting the insurance marketplace, or tips on how to keep your agency running smoothly, our aim is to provide you with the information you need.

Wells Publishing Inc. recently announced a groundbreaking decision to take Insurance Journal magazine national, providing five “regional” editions encompassing the entire U.S., from the east coast to the west coast. Because insurance is a regional business, our goal is to set ourselves apart from our competitors by focusing on the five regions: Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Texas/SouthCentral and of course, the West.

With our expansion, the editorial staff at Insurance Journal will take on new roles to better serve you. Beginning Dec. 2003, each region will have a managing editor focused on providing the latest news and issues pertaining to their particular region.

Each issue will also have the most recent national coverage you need to know. Our national editor, Andrea Ortega-Wells, will ensure that you are always informed and up-to-date on the most significant happenings both domestically and internationally.

Dave Thomas will become managing editor of Southeast, Kevin O’Reilly will take on the Midwest, international editor Charles Boyle will manage the Northeast, and Stephanie Jones will remain as managing editor for Texas/SouthCentral.

As managing editor here in the West, I promise to work diligently to keep you informed about the latest happenings from Alaska to California to New Mexico, and everywhere in between.

And in case you are eager to know a little more about me, I’ve been with Insurance Journal since Aug. of 2001. A former New Yorker, I graduated from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts. I’m an avid traveler who enjoys reading, horses, ice hockey, country music and “apartment improvement.”

This is your magazine. From our departments to our features we want to know: What works? What doesn’t? What do you want to see more of? As always, don’t forget to visit our Web site, www.insurancejournal.com, for the hottest daily news each and every day.
