Insurance broker Lockton announced it will create two new business teams to align its Texas operations.

Lockton’s Houston, San Antonio, Dallas and Fort Worth property/casualty operations will combine into a single operation under the leadership of Tim Kelly, chairman and CEO.

Frank Scardino will continue in his role as president of the Dallas property/casualty business.

Bruce Sammis has been named chairman and CEO of Lockton’s employee benefits operations in Texas, which includes Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio.

The combined Lockton Texas operation has 700 associates and more than $200 million in revenue.

Kansas City, Mo.-based is a privately held, independent insurance broker.

Progressive Corp. announced that Glenn Renwick, president and chief executive officer, will retire after more than 15 years as CEO and almost 30 years with the company, effective July 1, 2016. He will continue as executive chairman of the board.

Tricia Griffith, currently Personal Lines chief operating officer, will succeed Renwick as CEO and president and will join the board of directors.

Renwick joined Ohio-based Progressive in 1986. He was named CEO of insurance operations in 2000 and has served as the CEO of the parent company since 2001.

Griffith joined Progressive as a claims representative in 1988 and has served as Personal Lines chief operating officer since April 2015. She was named chief human resources officer in 2002 and returned to claims as the group president in 2008.

Eric Johnson joined Southwest Risk Agency Services LLC in Dallas as vice president, Binding.

Johnson previously was with Swett & Crawford where he was vice president of the binding unit in Dallas.

He has 27 years of professional experience in both standard and E&S business, and is proficient in multi-line and multi-state accounts across a broad array of industries including but not limited to habitation, contractors, hospitality wholesalers/distributors and manufacturing.

Southwest Risk Agency Services is a subsidiary of Southwest Risk LP.

Accident Fund Insurance Co. of America appointed Dan Hassenzahl to regional director, Southern region. He is responsible for underwriting and marketing in Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas and Georgia.

Hassenzahl joined the company in 2005 as a claims examiner and in 2007 moved to Internal Audit. He became a business development consultant in 2009.

Hassenzahl holds the Certified Authority on Workers’ Compensation (CAWC) designation and is currently pursuing Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designations.

Accident Fund is a member of AF Group. All policies are underwritten by a licensed insurer subsidiary of AF Group.

MarketScout, an electronic insurance exchange and specialty MGA headquartered in Dallas, Texas, has hired construction industry underwriting veteran, Rhonda Lohmar.

Lohmar joins the construction practice with more than 20 years of industry underwriting experience. Prior to joining MarketScout, Lohmar was a consulting director at CNA where she was responsible for over $200 million of annual construction premium.

Her experience includes underwriting in all lines of construction business including auto, general liability, umbrella, property, inland marine and workers’ compensation.

Lohmar has served as a trustee on the Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress Board of Trustees and as an at-large director for the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA). She holds the Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designation from the International Risk Management Institute (IRMI).

Brightway Insurance, a national property/casualty insurance retailer selling through a network of franchised independent agencies throughout the country, brought on Peter Linke as a new agency owner in Dallas.

The Brightway model offers independent agents access to insurance companies. Brightway’s system provides support to its personal lines agency owners, including systems, telephony, marketing, accounting and all service after the sale of a policy through its home office in Jacksonville, Fla.

Brightway was founded in 2003 now has 118 locations in 11 states.
