On Sept. 8, Noel Francine DeSota of Lake Forest was arrested and charged with three counts of workers’ comp fraud and six counts of insurance fraud.
The 53-year-old woman was working at Creative Business Concepts Inc. in Irvine when she sustained an injury to her hip, knee, back and neck. DeSota was examined by doctors and sent to physical therapy. At the time of her medical exam, DeSota did not advise her doctors that she was participating in Jazzercise classes.
During a deposition, DeSota admitted to trying a dance class, but claimed it was too strenuous, so she stopped attending. Records from the dance class show that DeSota participated in the Jazzercise class from January 1999 through July/August 1999, two to four times a week.
DeSota received roughly $59,595 in various workers’ comp benefits from American Manufacturers Mutual Insurance Company (dba Kemper Insurance Company). This claim resulted in a total payout of more than $107,000 by the insurance company.
