Following a two-year investigation by the California Department of Insurance (CDI) Criminal Investigations Branch, investigators arrested three Sacramento residents-John Michael Hermoso, 40; William Gregory Hoshall, 39; and Theodore Patrick Neher, 38-on charges of insurance fraud. A 1998 investigation on Hermoso was initiated based on information from the Grass Valley Police Department and a prior arrest warrant from a previous CDI investigation. Hermoso was convicted for soliciting an insurance agent in a fraud scheme and sentenced to 115 days in jail.
The latest CDI investigation uncovered that Hermoso’s associates, Hoshall and Neher, were also involved in the scheme. According to investigators, the three men each allegedly filed false claims for the same computer and other assorted items. The Sacramento District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.
