Two Sacramento county area residents, Julie Ann Gonzales, 30, and Umberto Rene Gonzales, 32, were arrested on multiple felony counts of insurance fraud as the result of an investigation by the California Department of Insurance (CDI) Criminal Investigations Branch’s Fraud Division.
The suspects allegedly filed three fraudulent claims with State Farm Insurance
Company between June 1, 2001 and Oct. 7, 2001 for car stereo and tire thefts. The investigation revealed receipts submitted by Julie Gonzales were reportedly falsified with the help of her husband, Umberto. The Gonzales’ also claimed losses for property they did not own. As a result of their alleged fraudulent claims, the Gonzales’ received in excess of $6,000 from State Farm Insurance Company.
