Equipment Policies

Nuts & Bolts: Britt Paulk Insurance Agency Inc. is offering an equipment policy program that includes agriculture, forestry, construction and lawn and garden. The coverage is first party physical damage for contractors’ equipment. Classes include contractors, agricultural, forestry, cranes, wood yard/sawmill, utility, lawn and garden. Coverage, physical damage.

Dollars: Commission varies. Deductible is $500 and minimum premium is $400.

Restaurants

Nuts & Bolts: Abram Interstate Insurance Services Inc. in Rocklin, Calif. is offering a new program providing coverage for restaurants including bars, beer pubs or taverns with or without table service or entertainment. Live entertainment may be acceptable. Assault and battery coverage may be provided for certain restaurants. Package coverage includes general liability, inland marine, crime and property. Brokerage agreement is required.

Dollars: General liability limits are $5 million, property limits are $10 million.

Carrier: Admitted in Arizona; nonadmitted in California.

States: Arizona and California

Bed & Breakfast

Nuts & Bolts: Markel’s bed and breakfast program is tailored to fit the needs of B&Bs and country inns, with specialized coverages such as guests’ inconvenience expenses and historic buildings. The program targets B&Bs with a minimum of five rooms and country inns with 25 or fewer rooms. Additional premium for services such as catering, hiking and saddle animals can be considered.

Dollars: Limits are $1 million to $10 million. Property limits may vary. Personal liability is offered with $1 million limits on general liability and up to $2 million on the umbrella. Higher deductibles may be required, depending on values and susceptibility to wind and other catastrophic exposures.

Community Banks

Nuts & Bolts: Venture Insurance Programs is offering an all-lines program for agents of commercial banks with less than $2 billion in assets. The Venture Banking program targets savings banks, credit unions, savings and loans, and trust companies. The program provides agents with access to bank insurance products through Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, The Hartford and OneBeacon Insurance Co. Coverage includes liability (general, fiduciary, professional and lending), bond, computer crime, safe deposit, workplace violence, KNR, property, workers’ compensation, property, boiler and machinery, auto, excess/umbrella, mortgage/mail protection, workers’ compensation and other ancillary lines.

Dollars: There is no minimum premium. Maximum limits vary. Deductible varies.

Carrier: Rated “A” to “A” ++ by A.M. Best.

States: All

Enhanced Coverage for Third-Party Theft Losses

Nuts & Bolts: Cambridge General Agency has a new crime coverage that can be added to home health care risks on a package basis, along with the general liability, property, inland marine and professional liability coverages the company offers. The new coverage is designed to protect the insured’s in the event one or more of their employees steal items from their clients after providing “in home” services. Coverage will be added to the company’s crime coverage part on a package basis. Third-party theft is not available on a stand alone basis.

Dollars: Limits are $10,000 each occurrence, $20,000 annual aggregate. Sublimits are $5,000 for money, securities, precious metals or gems, etc. Deductible is $1,000 per occurrence. Rates are based on the number of employees.

Carrier: Rated “A,” VIII by A.M. Best. Nonadmitted.

State: California.
