A Travis County grand jury has indicted Larry Wallace of Wallace Insurance Agency and Ruben Perez of Artisan Masonry for insurance fraud. The case, decided on Jan. 26, first surfaced when The Texas Workers’ Comp Insurance Fund uncovered a “shadow” company owned by Robert Gladu, a construction contractor.
Gladu told The Fund that he only had one employee. In fact, his shadow company, Artisan Masonry, employed up to 100 employees. In December, Gladu pleaded no contest to felony charges of insurance premium fraud, paid $200,000 in restitution to The Fund and received a five-year probated sentence.
