The races for Louisiana political offices, statewide and local, got underway as candidates completed the filing hurdle and were officially “qualified” to run. The statewide general election will be on Nov. 15. The six contenders qualifying for the commissioner of insurance race are: Jim R. Bell, Alexandria; E. “No Fault” Fletcher, Democrat, Baton Rouge; John Brent “T-T” Fontenot, Republican, Baton Rouge; William E. “Coach” Johnson, Democrat, Ponchatoula, “Dan” Kyle, Republican, Baton Rouge, and the incumbent, Robert Wooley, Democrat, Baton Rouge.
