The Seibels Bruce Group Inc. has received approval from the Tennessee Department of Insurance allowing subsidiary Catawba Insurance Company (CIC) to resume writing new risk-bearing commercial lines business in Tennessee. CIC had discontinued writing this business in Tennessee in August 2002 as a result of administrative action by the South Carolina and Tennessee Departments of Insurance. Seibels Bruce applied to resume writing business in Tennessee after receiving an Order Lifting Administrative Supervision and Relieving Supervisor issued by the South Carolina Department of Insurance on May 21, 2003. “We are pleased that the Tennessee Department of Insurance has allowed CIC to resume conducting business in its state, and we look forward to again providing quality insurance products to our loyal independent agency base in Tennessee,” said Michael Culbertson, president. “Seibels Bruce’s longstanding relationship with agents in Tennessee will help us to begin rebuilding our business immediately in that state.”
