Darwin Professional Underwriters Inc. (Darwin) announced that an affiliate, Platte River Insurance Company, has gained the approval of the Oklahoma Department of Insurance to write hospital professional liability coverage on an admitted basis in Oklahoma. Darwin is now accepting applications for insurance coverage with limits of liability up to $10 million for policy effective dates of July 1, 2004 and later. Applications must be submitted through a Darwin-approved agent or broker licensed to do business in the State of Oklahoma. Darwin (www.darwinpro.com) and Platte River are both subsidiaries of Alleghany Insurance Holdings LLC, whose parent company is Alleghany Corporation.
