Oklahoma City-based managing general underwriter and third party administrator Midlands Management Corporation appointed Pamela McMillan Eyerly to the position of vice president of Human Resources. She will manage Midlands’ HR Department located in Oklahoma City.

Eyerly’s twenty years of extensive HR practice include experience in manufacturing, medical and aerospace fields, including union and non-union labor experience. She brings to the table strength in employment law, regulatory compliance and organizational development.

Fort Worth-based Higginbotham & Associates announced the addition of seasoned employee benefits broker Brian Sutherland to its Denton, Texas, office.

Higginbotham acquired the Denton agency when it merged with the then 24-year-old Denton Insurance Center in 1998. Until the merger, the Denton agency’s book of business consisted of personal and commercial property and casualty insurance accounts. With the acquisition, the agency’s resources expanded to include Higginbotham’s full-service Financial Services Division, including employee benefits, life insurance, executive benefits and retirement plans. Sutherland is the Denton office’s first resident employee benefits specialist.

Sutherland’s relationship with Higginbotham dates back 10 years, during which time he worked in the health insurance carrier community and helped place medical, dental and life coverage for the agency’s group benefit clients. He has held sales and consultant positions at NYLCare Texas Health Plan, Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. During his 20-year career, he has maintained a minimum client retention rate of 92 percent.

Covington, La.-based benefit plan manager Gilsbar Inc. added Todd Randolph as national sales consultant. Randolph will help expand Gilsbar’s national presence and play a critical part in forming and nurturing new business partnerships throughout the country, the company said.

Randolph comes to Gilsbar from Humana where he excelled in sales and group account management. With experience in both traditional and consumer-choice employer plans, he has been a featured speaker and panel participant for national health care forums specifically on the topic of Health Savings Accounts.

Sharla Martin is now a broker in the Swett & Crawford Dallas office.

Her previous experience includes two years at Western Security Surplus as an assistant vice president and senior broker of general contracts, and artisan contractors, hotel/motel, restaurant/bar and apartment coverages, as well as eight years as a senior account executive with Hull & Company General Agency.

Roberto Castellanos joined MexiPass Global Assurance as senior vice president in charge of sales and marketing. Castellanos will be coordinating the nationwide sales activities for commercial and personal lines products and services.

Castellanos was responsible for the Mexican Insurance operation for Marsh – Brockman y Schuh in the U.S., and has worked in the international insurance area in the U.S. and Mexico for the past 20 years with companies such as Marsh, AIG, Grupo Nacional Provincial, Johnson & Higgins and Brockman y Schuh.

MexiPass Global Assurance, headquartered in South Pasadena, Calif., is a managing general agent in the U.S. for placement of insurance in Mexico.

Colemont Insurance Brokers-Atlanta promoted Lisa Adams to assistant vice president.

Adams joined Colemont in 2000 as an associate broker. She was previously a transportation underwriter for an MGA facility. Adams has been in the insurance industry since 1981, with the majority of her career spent working for various property and casualty insurance companies.

Adams specializes in general liability and umbrella casualty placements for large habitational schedules, construction and products driven risks.

Republic Companies Group Inc., based in Dallas, announced the results of its 2006 stockholder election for the board of directors.

Bruce W. Schnitzer, chairman of the board and managing director of Wand Partners Inc., was re-elected to chairman of the Board and the following individuals were re-elected to the board of directors:

Scott L. Bok, co-president of Greenhill & Co. Inc.; Robert H. Kullas, former chairman of the board, president and chief operating officer of Executive Risk Inc.; Patrick K. McGee, co-founder and member of Brazos Private Equity Partners LLC; Parker W. Rush, president and chief executive officer of Republic; Robert H. Sheridan, III, managing director of Banc of America Capital Investors; and John L. Ware, president and chief executive officer of 21st Century Group LLC.

Workers’ compensation specialty company Zenith Insurance has added Gerald Ladner as regional vice president in its Zenith Austin unit.

Ladner joins Zenith from Zurich North America with extensive industry experience. He has held various positions with Zurich since 1992, including regional vice president, regional manager–Strategic Alignment; vice president, territorial executive, manager–Customer Markets; and manager–Agency Business Development.

He will report to Chris Uselton, Zenith senior vice president and southern regional manager, and will assume direct management responsibility for the region’s Marketing and Underwriting divisions.

Jennifer Fields joined Heartland Marketing Group Inc. of Little Rock, Ark., as a regional sales manager servicing Arkansas, Oklahoma and Mississippi.

Fields has more than 10 years’ experience as a commercial lines underwriter and producer. She will be responsible for independent agency growth in both personal and commercial lines, and will be based in Little Rock.
