The Main Street America Group has promoted Ed Kuhl to executive vice president, chief financial officer, and Dick Schultz to assistant vice president, and appointed Tom Frazier to assistant treasurer.

Kuhl joined Main Street America in 1988 as controller. He has served as treasurer of all of Main Street America’s operating companies since 1999 and was elected a vice president in March 2000. Kuhl was appointed chief financial officer in September 2002 and promoted to senior vice president, chief financial officer, in March 2005.

Kuhl, based in Jacksonville, Fla., is responsible for oversight of all of the organization’s financial activities including the accounting, treasury, tax, planning and internal audit functions. He also oversees Main Street America’s Bonds and Investment units. Before joining Main Street America, Kuhl was vice president and chief financial officer of Sedgwick James of Pennsylvania Inc.

Schultz joined Main Street America in 1986 as manager, financial control and reporting. In 2002, he was promoted to director, financial reporting and control. Schultz was elected assistant treasurer in March 2003. Schultz, based in Keene, N.H., is responsible for internal and external financial reporting for Main Street America as a whole, as well as its subsidiaries and profit centers. He also assists in internal controls and financial regulatory compliance.

Frazier joined Main Street America in 1999 as senior internal auditor, and was named manager, corporate finance, in 2001. Frazier was promoted to director, corporate finance and investments, in November 2005. Frazier, based in Keene, N.H., is responsible for managing Main Street America’s $1.3 billion investment portfolio. He also directs quantitative portfolio analysis for the purpose of determining appropriate asset allocations, as well as chooses the outside managers to meet portfolio objectives. Additionally, Frazier oversees outside investment managers, banking and custody relationships.

Vicky Pearson has been promoted to an underwriter at wholesale insurance broker Russell Bond & Co. Inc. in Buffalo, N.Y. In her position as underwriter, Pearson will be focused on providing casualty, property, package and excess liability coverages under the various binding authority agreements RBCO has in place. Pearson began her business career in customer service and administration in the financial services and communications industries. Her insurance career began with Russell Bond & Co. Inc. in 2002. In 2003, she was promoted to technical assistant in the binding authority department.

Bruce A. Wollschlager has assumed the roles of president and chief executive officer at the Connecticut Interlocal Risk Management Agency, a program of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities that provides workers’ compensation and liability, auto and property coverage to a 373 Connecticut municipalities and school districts.

Wollschlager joined CIRMA in September 2001 as its chief operating officer. Since his start, premiums have grown 408 percent, members’ equity 42 percent, and total assets 115 percent, according to CIRMA officials. Today CIRMA has $186 million in assets, $70 million in premiums, and $44 million in members’ equity. Before joining CIRMA, he was general counsel and vice president for the Blue Ridge Insurance Co. in Simsbury.

The Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut Inc. elected officers during the association’s annual convention recently at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn. Following are the new officers who will lead PIACT in 2007-2008.

President: Christopher Wilson, general manager for C.V. Mason & Co. in Bristol, Conn; President-elect: James Goodman, president of Goodman Insurance Inc. in Shelton; Vice president: Michael F. Keating, president of Michael J. Keating Agency Inc. in W. Hartford; Vice president: Howard Olderman, president of The Olderman and Hallihan Agency Inc. in Ansonia,; Treasurer: James Berliner, managing member of Berliner Fitelson Insurance LLC in Bridgeport, and president of Berliner-Gelfand & Co. Inc., also of Bridgeport; and Secretary: Timothy Russell, president of The Russell Agency LLC in Southport.

John DiMatteo, president of A.A. DiMatteo Insurance Service Center with offices in Trumbull, Orange and Bethany, will serve as immediate past president.

Victoria DiMatteo, co-owner of A.A. DiMatteo Insurance Service Center in Shelton, received PIACT’s Professional Agent of the Year award. Also, Ken Evans, territory manager for OneBeacon Small Business in Canton, Mass., has been named the PIACT’s Company Professional of the Year .

Grange Insurance recently announced that it has realigned its personal lines division. Barry Hunlock has been named regional personal lines president for Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia and Pennsylvania. He will also oversee the company’s Integrity Insurance region, which includes Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota, as well as the special lines group, business analysis and quality assurance.

Hunlock joined Grange in 1993 and has more than 20 years experience in the insurance industry. He most recently served as vice president of personal lines business for Ohio and Michigan.

AIR Worldwide Corp. appointed John W. Rollins to the position of vice president. Rollins will be based in Tallahassee, Fla. and will provide catastrophe-risk related actuarial consulting services to AIR’s clients. In addition, he will direct and oversee the AIR Institute, an education and training program for catastrophe risk modelers and managers. Most recently, Rollins was chief actuary and director of corporate analytics at Florida’s Citizens Property Insurance Corp.

ACE Canada, a division of the ACE Group of Companies, has appointed Karen Barkley as president and chief executive officer. Barkley, who previously held the position of chief operations officer for ACE Canada, will be responsible for managing ACE’s operations in Canada. Barkley joined ACE in 1992 in the Risk Management Unit and has progressed through the organization holding several senior management positions within ACE Canada.
