Aubie W. Knight has assumed the role of chief executive officer of the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia (IIAG).

Knight has been with IIAG since 1996. During his tenure, he has been responsible for most of IIAG’s for-profit operations and has been involved in other aspects of IIAG’s management.

Knight is succeeding Gould B. Hagler, Jr. as chief executive of the organization. Hagler, who has been with IIAG as its lobbyist since 1987 and as executive director since 1996, remains with IIAG handling lobbying and government affairs duties.

Knight is also an instructor of continuing education and insurance designation courses. On a national level, he has been involved with the errors and omissions (E&O) program offered by the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America and serving on a number of other working groups and task forces related to insurance agents professional liability and loss control. Knight also works with University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business as a part-time instructor of risk management and insurance courses. He serves on the board of directors of the Georgia Society of Association Executives (GSAE) and is a 2009 graduate of GSAE’s Leadership Academy.

North Carolina Agents Honor Newmister of Montgomery Insurance Montgomery Insurance Co. Regional Vice President Nancy Newmister has been named the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina’s (IIANC) Company Professional of the Year. The award was presented to Newmister during the IIANC’s annual conference held recently in Asheville.

IIANC President Charlotte Hicks presented the award to Newmister for the “outstanding support she and Montgomery Insurance have shown North Carolina independent agents during the past year.”

“It’s very gratifying to receive this award as it reflects the consistency in strong agency relationships that all of us strive for at Montgomery Insurance,” Newmister said.

Newmister joined Montgomery Insurance in 2002, and has been the regional vice president for the North Carolina and South Carolina region since April of 2007. Under her leadership, Montgomery Insurance has been recognized by the IIANC’s Young Agents as Company of the Year for three consecutive years.

Montgomery Insurance operates in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Insurance broker Marsh has appointed Lee Stevenson as Southeast partnership leader and head of its Atlanta office. In his new role, Stevenson will oversee all operations in Marsh’s Atlanta office and its Southeast Partnership, which also includes offices in Birmingham, Ft. Lauderdale, Knoxville, Memphis, Nashville, Orlando, and Tampa. Stevenson succeeds Ken Fraser, who will join Marsh’s Global Risk Management division as a senior member of its leadership team. Stevenson joined Marsh in 1994 and has 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. He previously led Marsh’s North America Private Equity and Mergers and Acquisitions (PEMA) Practice, providing support for some of the largest private equity firms in the world. He will report to Justin Walsleben, South Zone Leader, Marsh.

CNA Financial Corp. has appointed Rob Huber to the position of Southeastern Zone officer. In this role, Huber is responsible for aligning the branch structure of the Southeastern Zone with the global insurer’s growth strategy. One of six zones in CNA’s U.S. field structure, the Southeastern Zone comprises Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, and includes offices in Birmingham, Charlotte, Maitland, Nashville and New Orleans. In addition, Huber will also manage the Atlanta branch office previously led by Ken May, who is leaving CNA to pursue other opportunities. Huber joins CNA from Ace USA, where he served as senior vice president and regional executive officer for its Southeast territory. His 17-year career began at AIG, and includes agency experience as well as positions in underwriting, production and field management.
