Palisades Safety & Insurance Assoc., one of New Jersey’s fastest-growing auto insurers during the 1990s, has appointed Gerald J. Wilson as president and chief executive officer.
Wilson spent 13 years at Progressive Insurance Co. where he served in a variety of roles, including product development, systems development, claims, distribution and finance. Most recently, Wilson was responsible for managing the company’s successful entry into Michigan. He has also served on the government affairs committee of the Michigan Insurance Federation as well as the executive committee of the Insurance Information Association of Michigan.
He replaces Hal Belodoff, who served as Palisades’ president and chief executive since 1993. Belodoff will remain involved as board chairman and chief executive of Palisades affiliate Plymouth Rock Assurance Corp.
