PIANJ Seeking Agents Interested in Earning CIC Designation

The Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey Inc. is calling for nominations for its 2003 Certified Insurance Counselor scholarship opportunities. Selected individuals will receive a $350 scholarship to one CIC institute. Only first-time CIC participants are eligible; the deadline for nominations is Monday, Sept. 15, 2003.

“The CIC program is the nation’s largest professional education program for insurance professionals and PIANJ is dedicated to helping its members benefit from the program,” stated John D’Agostino Jr., CIC, president of PIANJ. “The advantages of the scholarship, which include encouragement, training and promoting career advancement within the agencies and companies, will prove to be most beneficial to the participants.”

The announcement noted that, “candidates should be strongly committed to continuing education and a career in insurance,” and that the award is only applicable to CIC institutes in New Jersey.”

It listed the following qualifications that applicants must have:
— be new to the CIC program;
— have an employer who is a member of PIANJ;
— be employed full time in the insurance industry;
— be a licensed agent, broker, solicitor or have at least two years of full-time experience as a practitioner in insurance or risk management or have served at least two years as a full-time insurance faculty member at an accredited college or university;
— be willing and able to invest the time and additional expenses to complete the five CIC institutes within five years of passing his/her first exam; and
— take the examination at the end of each institute.

The awards will be presented to the recipients during PIANJ’s James K. Ruble Graduate Seminar Oct. 1, 2003, at the Trump Taj Mahal, Atlantic City, N.J.
