S.H. Smith & Co., a national, independently-owned excess and surplus lines insurance broker, announced that Derek O’Gorman has joined the firm as vice president.
O’Gorman will be involved in the development and expansion of casualty and property brokerage business. His responsibilities will include the placement of general liability, umbrella, environmental and property excess and surplus lines coverages.
He has has 20 years experience in the insurance industry, beginning with AIG Risk Management and General Star as a casualty underwriter. He then spent 10 years with Marsh & McLennan before leaving and in 2006 he moved to Lockton Insurance Brokers before he and his family relocated to Boston recently.
O’Gorman will be based in the Boston area office. S.H. Smith has offices in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Ohio and Florida
