another example of why our founding fathers wanted to keep government small. Because politicians are dumbasses.

Wait… in NY you can go to a STORE and purchase a fake ID? We’re not talking about kids in a media room in high school, we’re talking about merchants who are legally selling fake IDs? How does this work? I’m at a loss here.

Also, does that mean the bar would not have to worry about dram and liquor liability laws if a minor who provides a fake ID, gets drunks and kills someone?

i think you did miss something….there are folks whom make fake id cards for those whom want to tempt fate at getting caught, most are usually for entering the zones where you need to be 21…want the state wants to do, if they can catch the person whom is selling fake id’s; that they will also be charged for any damages that individual may cause if caught with an under the influence incident…this could be a vehicle damage or physical damage caused by themselves…i think that this is good to an extent…but here’s the problem — if you look at the article, did it not say stores were selling without checking id cards? what’s wrong with that? they should be more legally responsible for selling them the booze! and of course the individual shud be even more responsible, because they knew that was illegal to do…

This is what I was reading:

“An investigation by his office showed that minors could go into stores around the city and get IDs with little or no verification from the sellers.”

That seems to say they’re not looking at the problem of stores selling liquor without checking IDs close enough, they’re concerned with merchants – operating from a store – selling IDs without verification.

The way I’m reading this is that there’s “Crazy Al’s Fake ID Mart and Liquor Emporium” somewhere in Queens.

They’re talking about stores that sell stuff to tourists. They sell licence plates with a name on them and stuff. You can also get an “ID card” with your picture on it. It will be for a phoney college or something like that. These aren’t fogeries of state licences or anything.

Would a toy store then be responsible if I purchased a toy gun and used that to rob a bank?

Why post an article that has no information? Can’t they pick something that has more useful information?

    Slow news day?

And this is relates to insurance….

This is typcial of elected officials and it isn’t even election time. Do they actually think sellers of fake I.D.’s have assests or liability policies that would cover this? Another stupid idea to let the sheep think the goats are actually doing something. Like Spitzer wanting to GIVE drivers licenses to illegals. They want to build a voting base………pure and simple. What better way than to ingratiate a bunch of illegals?
