funny, we just talked about this case in another article. here we find out that he actually had problems with 3 churches. you would have thought that after the first one, they would have done something. now to allow him to go to a second and third church and do the same! it serves the church for the amount of damage. the lien of the property will be purchased back by the church thru the vatican money. does this not leave you wondering the state of the catholic church? especially after the pope’s visit to the us.

As much as I don’t think the guy deserves anything (he waited 30 years so it obviously wasn’t important to him) he should hope the church doesn’t come up with the money. Then he can take the property and make money in perpetuity by leasing it to the church. It’s a much better option for him than getting cash.

You know how the saying goes, “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me 40 times, hell, I just like it at that point!”

How do you even prove something like this occurred? Unless the priest admits outright he did it,what proof can you provide? It is a case of he said he said.

I hope Hank’s comment was supposed to be in jest or someone should fondle his throat with their fist 40 times or so. Try understanding kids and how their minds work and realize if they felt empowered to fight back or report these things thene the molesters would be walking around maimed a la Johnny Bobbit.

Nobody deserves money for these allegations, true or otherwise. It wasn’t until a profit motive emerged that these people came crawling out of the woodwork some 30-40 years after the fact. Unjustly enriching them isn’t goint to accomplish anything. Rulings like this penalize all decent Catholics. I for one am sick an tired of our absurd and unjust legal system using a shotgun where a rifle would do just fine. As for being handled 40 times, where the hell were the parents. This kind of thing doesn’t go un-noticed for that long a time.

Remember when this all happened. Who back then would believe that a priest, rabbi, scoutmaster etc would do this to a child. Or suppose the priest told the child that they would go to hell if they told anyone.

You even look a someone the wrong way today and they sue you

Ya I hear you, but the thing is get the guy in jail and move on with your life. Come on what about 10 years ago when comeone would have listened to you? These people did not come up until they heard of the $$$$$$$. ringing all over the news. If they are really hurt by the actions of the church, have the guy put in jail. What is millions of $$ going to solve?

What a token ruling. There should be statute on this like everything else. Age 21 plus 2 years is sufficient. When was the last time a church was sold? I’m also having difficulty believing that the Catholic church is the only one affected by this. Could it be it’s the only one with deep pockets that’s rolling over on these claims? I have to believe it’s a small number of unhappy Catholics who think their mis-guided suits are retaliation for being told not to masturbate. If it isn’t about the money (bull ****) then why are they asking for it and taking it?

I agreed with you 100% Janet but watch out on this site as you will be heavily criticized by the PC Thugs on this board if you don’t show any compassion.

It isn’t just the Catholic Church that is affected by this or any other scandal. Ministers in other religions have been caught having affairs, committing murdering, rape, and pedophilia, etc. But, unless they are a big name televangelist, the media ignores it and it very often gets swept under a rug.

Televangelist …hrrmmmph…Talk about the fleecing of America!

What I’m also apalled at is that everyone has taken the $$ and run. Isn’t there ONE brave person who will say no, send the SOBs to jail and open up the damn files to see what else you are doing?
Corollary: All jail terms no matter what should be hard labor not TV lounges.
