Virginia Insurance Agents Create Employment Services Firm

July 10, 2008

The Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia (the Big “I”) has created an employment services firm – Agent’s Choice Staffing Services, Inc. – which is designed to specifically serve the independent insurance agency and their staffing needs.

IIAV has partnered with Virginia Staffing Choice, a Charlottesville employment placement firm, in the creation of the new venture which will assist agencies in locating a wide range of insurance professionals from customer service representatives, back room support assistance to even producers on either a temporary or permanent placement.

“Finding qualified employees is a difficult process – and if identified, the employee screening process can be very critical and time consuming,” noted new IIAV Board Chair Cynthia Amick with the S.L. Nusbaum Insurance Agency of Norfolk, Virginia. “We have created Agent’s Choice Staffing Services to serve a critical need of our agency members which is to locate, qualify and screen high quality employees.”

Agent’s Choice Staffing Services will work with IIAV’s Insurance Career Institute to get high school students and career changers trained and licensed for agency CSR positions.

“My family comes from a fine insurance tradition so I know first-hand what agencies go through when they need employees or temporary employees,” stated Matthew Frazer, president of Agent’s Choice Staffing Services. “The synergy between my existing employment agency and our venture with IIAV can only serve to help IIAV members with a solution to their employment challenges.”

Agents Choice will locate, screen and qualify insurance professionals for both temporary and permanent placement. In addition, graduates of the Insurance Career Institute classes hosted by IIAV’s affiliate the Virginia Association of Insurance Agents will be placed through the new employment service. The next class of the Insurance Career Institute is scheduled to begin at the end of July.
