A judge has dismissed the state’s lawsuit against contractors involved in the building of the University of Connecticut law school library, saying the state waited too long.
Waterbury Superior Court Judge William Cremins says the state, which filed the lawsuit last year, exceeded the statute of limitation. The lawsuit was filed 12 years after construction was completed.
State Attorney General Richard Blumenthal had claimed that the construction was “shoddy and substandard.”
The $24 million library opened in Hartford in 1996 and was plagued by leaks and mold. Its stone facade had to be removed and reattached to the building.
The state has spent about $20 million on repairs.
