Officials Announce Two Disaster Aid Centers Opening in Virginia

January 6, 2012

Federal and state agencies are opening a new disaster recovery center in Spotsylvania County and reopening one in Louisa County in Virginia to assist victims of last year’s earthquake.

The Spotsylvania center at 3960 Courthouse Road and the Louisa center at the Triangle Plaza Shopping Center will be open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Officials recommend registering for assistance by calling the Federal Emergency Management Agency or by going online at DiasterAssistance.gov, before visiting a disaster recovery center. The registration deadline is March 5.

Louisa County was the center of the magnitude-5.8 earthquake last Aug. 23.
