XL Group plc has appointed industry veteran Alfred Bergbauer as head of multinational casualty in North America.
Bergbauer will report to Ken Riegler, president of XL Group’s North American Primary Casualty group. He will maintain offices in New York as well as in Philadelphia.
XL Group stated that Bergbauer’s insight and knowledge of international markets will help the company’s effort to build out its global program business and assist more multinational companies in North America address their cross-border insurance needs.
Bergbauer joins XL Group from Marsh USA Inc. where he served as multinational client service leader for the east zone since 2006.
Bergbauer brings more than 25 years of international insurance industry experience, working in the US, China, Hong Kong, and the Philippines for such companies as ACE USA, Winterthur Insurance, Liberty Mutual Group, Continental Insurance and Insular General Insurance Company. He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK).
