The Occupy movement doesn’t understand the way that the world works. The taxpayers elected officials into office who (I am assuming) appointed the review board. If the elected officials were not looking out for your best interest or making bad decisions, do something by voting. Defaulting on a bad decision will simply make the situation worse (not that occupiers will realize that though).

Where in the article does it say this was spearheaded by the Occupy movement? It just said protesters.

It’s amazing that state Representative Karen McBeth would comment that because insurance companies have a lot of money, they should BAIL OUT the state, because the ins cos wouldn’t get hurt as badly as the state. How irresponsible! What a pathetic representative and example for the people of the state…

Lots of smart folks apparently created this mess. But Mr. Schilling as an outspoken, limited government conservative, sure used and abused government here.

Just another filthy rich hypocrite. He keeps his mansion, and the taxpayers subsidize his business loss. Should we call that “SchillingCare”?

“That money means nothing to them,” she said of the insurers who backed the state’s investment. “This may be small change to them, but it’s not small change to us.”

    Isn’t that insurance fraud?

Not insurance fraud, IMHO, but it is symptomatic of the mindset of runaway juries that resulted in tort reform. Unlike the U. S. Treasury, private corporations cannot print money.

What was Rhode Island thinking?!? $100 million to back a game developer at the peak of the gaming bubble? Operated by a career jock no less? Wow. How is this legit?

Rich consevatives stealing from the taxpayers to support their fellow rich conservatives. Not saying that liberals aren’t just as bad, but conservatives love to spout off about Solyndra. Now we have the conservative Solyndra!

Are you saying that you suspect that Curt Schilling was funnelling the money to the Republican Party in the form of campaign contributions?

Government should not be in the business of business. The people running government can’t even get that right. Why in the world should citizens/taxpayers trust them to make good decisions in the private sector? This is yet another example of why we need less government, not more.
