How am I being disrespectful or non-compassionate by asking that question? I understand the man is dead and it is a terrible tragedy. Nonetheless, I wonder how he afforded such an expensive house and wondered if anyone had more information.
That’s what I was wondering. But still, it must be a really, really, good job.

I’m with you on this one Libby. There is no way someone who is making $60,000 can afford a $560,000 home. Perhaps the guy married into money or inherited. In any case, this is a bit much for an average city employee.

Libby only said what many are thinking. What’s the big deal?
That’s what you take from this article? A man killed himself seemingly over the guilt he felt regarding his perceived inability to identify potential structural issues prior to a building collapse; and you two are worried about how he could afford an expensive house?
D – take a chill pill, dude or dudette. Yes, that’s what I got from this article. The same article that made a point of saying how much he made and how much his house is worth. I’m sure the man was a stand-up guy and will be missed by friends and family, but this is a blog and that’s what people do.
Tell you what. You mind your business and I’ll mind mine.
The “bob” who argues with you and liberals (me) has not posted much at all in upwards of a month.
The only reason D is talking down to this “other” Bob is because he believes that Bob is me.
Hilarious. I love need to feel like you’re getting the bad guy I’ve brought out in you D, but trust me I’m not the bad guy you need to get. It’s your own head you’ve get to get.
Just about as unusual as Vince Foster committing suicide in the park and them finding the gun 20 feet away. The Clinton White House had his office cleaned out within an hour after they found him. Hmm!
It wasn’t me that thumbed you down Libby. It looks like you have a problem with D & T though. This is a wierd world that we are living in and one cannot make a comment on a blog without being attacked no matter what it is. Sign of the times?
There is much more to this story. I agree Libby; there is no way this guy could afford a house worth $560k on salary of $60k. Who commits suicide by “shooting himself in the chest”; is that even possible????
I believe he was taking kickbacks, was getting ready to become a whistleblower and his co-conspirators killed him; or he wasn’t on the take, found out information on who was taking kickbacks and they killed him. In either case, he did not commit suicide, in my opinion.
Maybe he built the house himself (the article said he was a carpenter), or his wife worked, or he bought the house 2005 and hasn’t made a payment for the last 3 years. But I guess it’s more fun to think of a devious plot. Kinda of like a TV show.
What I don’t get is that the “face” of the whole thing still happens to be the crane operator’s fault. The city is slow to hold the inspector accountable. I know he’s dead now, so all we are getting is “how good a man he was….” Question: if he was a good man wouldn’t he take up his cross and publicly express sorrow to the community rather than take the “easy’ way out? He was the overseer of the project but he just went on and let the folks under of him take the brunt of the deal rather than face it with them.
How does someone making $60k afford a $500,000 house???
How about you show a little respect and compassion? A wife is without her husband and a child is without a father.
How am I being disrespectful or non-compassionate by asking that question? I understand the man is dead and it is a terrible tragedy. Nonetheless, I wonder how he afforded such an expensive house and wondered if anyone had more information.
Perhaps she has a job.

I was wondering the same thing.

Conculsion jumping is hazardous to one’s health.
No jumping Huh! Just pondering…
It’s really non of your business.
Suicide by shooting himself in the chest?
That’s a very uncommon way to kill yourself by gun…
Just about as unusual as Vince Foster committing suicide in the park and them finding the gun 20 feet away. The Clinton White House had his office cleaned out within an hour after they found him. Hmm!
The same way the burger flipper at the local fast food joint married to the paper route delivery person did.
How was that?
Somewhere between the winking loan officer and applicants is how.
It wasn’t me that thumbed you down Libby. It looks like you have a problem with D & T though. This is a wierd world that we are living in and one cannot make a comment on a blog without being attacked no matter what it is. Sign of the times?
Sorry, Agent. I’m so used to you doing it I jumped to conclusions. I guess Huh! was right after all.

I did ponder kickbacks. Uh oh, I’ll have D & T after me again with this one…..
