USI’s N.Y. Office Appoints Exec to Assist Clients’ Workplace Wellness Programs

USI Insurance Services’ metropolitan New York office recently appointed Karen Smith as director of its new clinical solutions department. In her role, Smith assists clients in creating workforce wellness programs that address the modifiable health care costs and trends impacting an organization’s bottom line.

Smith possesses over seven years of direct experience in worksite health promotion and population risk management. She also brings to her role more than 20 years of experience in marketing communications, project and vendor management, and sales support.

Smith began her career in corporate wellness in 2006 as a wellness account manager for Palladian Health LLC, a managed care corporation in New York. In 2009, she joined Rose and Kiernan Inc. as director of health and wellness services.

She is a certified worksite wellness program manager with the National Wellness Institute, has held several certifications in group exercise, and is a frequent speaker on health promotion in the workplace.

USI’s metropolitan New York office also recently hired Rick Fox for the clinical solutions department. Fox previously worked with the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation. Prior to that, he was responsible for project management and operational control of the health and wellness program at Monroe Clinic in Wisconsin. He also spent four years as the health and wellness coordinator for Verizon Wireless at their regional headquarters in Southfield, Mich.
