NGM Insurance Introduces Expanded Workers’ Comp Program in Virginia

July 13, 2015

The Main Street America Group’s NGM Insurance Co. has introduced an expanded workers’ compensation program in Virginia via its network of independent insurance agents throughout the commonwealth.

“The expanded pricing levels in Virginia, available through our additional writing companies, enables us to more precisely match risk to rate and offer our customers more attractive rates on preferred business,” said Dan Gaynor, Main Street America’s vice president and head of commercial lines. “These new options also open our workers’ compensation market to a broader mix of business lines beyond contractors. This includes ‘Main Street’ businesses in the retail, offices, services, manufacturing and wholesale classes throughout Virginia.”

NGM’s expanded workers’ compensation program considers 10 characteristics that impact writing company placement, including ones the super-regional property/casualty insurance carrier has not used before such as number of owned vehicles, years in business and number of nonpays in prior billing cycles. Once these characteristics are applied to a risk, it will then be placed into one of three writing companies, which vary by state.

In Virginia, the product can be written with Main Street America’s NGM Insurance Co., Main Street America Assurance Co. or Old Dominion Insurance Co. The expanded workers’ compensation program is also available in Georgia, North Carolina and Vermont.

NGM’s expanded workers’ compensation coverage can be paired with its Main Line Business Owners Program (Main Line BOP) — a small business product that offers a wide range of coverages, — as well as the company’s tiered commercial auto program.

According to Gregg Effner, president of Main Street America’s Southeast Region, enhancements to the Main Street Station commercial lines policy processing system has eased the process of quoting and writing the product. During the second half of 2015, Main Street America plans to introduce its expanded workers’ compensation program in seven additional states: Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Tennessee.

The Main Street America Group is a mutual insurance holding company which writes business through its nine property/casualty insurance carriers: NGM Insurance Co., Old Dominion Insurance Co., Austin Mutual Insurance Co., Grain Dealers Mutual Insurance Co., Main Street America Assurance Co., Great Lakes Casualty Insurance Co., MSA Insurance Co., Spring Valley Mutual Insurance Co. and Main Street America Protection Insurance Co.. Based in Jacksonville, Fla., Main Street America offers a range of commercial and personal insurance, as well as fidelity and surety bond products, to individuals, families and businesses throughout the United States.
