He’s a nut, and people like Agent, Bob, and Yogi push crap he starts talking about that gets picked up by other outlets as if it is true, and is worthy of consideration in reality. He believes this crap, and is completely, 100% insane. He thinks the government has alien technology and is hiding it from us along with Satan. But Clinton had a private, legal, email server, so both sides.

Gonna open a HUGE can of worms I think. A rifle is a rifle, a semi-automatic 30-30 or any other caliber is no different in function than an AR-15. The AR-15 was made to look like a military weapon, that is why some call it an “assault weapon”. Now, on the meat of the lawsuit. If this were to be allowed to go forward, that means that the manufacturer of the car/SUV/truck driven into a crowd of people by a crazed driver is liable for injuries and/or death since they built it. Or, the company that made the knife used in a mall attack is liable. The list can go on and on. People are going to kill/maim/injure throughout the world using whatever means are at their disposal. Not going to argue the fact that using a gun is easier than a knife. That isn’t the point. People kill, not inanimate objects. To hold the company who manufactured that inanimate object liable for a persons actions is asinine. Just for the record, I am not a member of the NRA, just a common sense (I hope) citizen.

They addressed this in the 3rd paragraph of the article…

“The families had argued that the gun never should have been sold because, they said, it had no legitimate civilian purpose.”

Vehicles have other legitimate civilian purposes such as commuting to work.

There’s plenty of arguments for why they shouldn’t win but this is clearly a bad one.

A fully automatic weapon has no civilian purpose. A semi-automatic weapon is very popular for hunting. I know plenty of people who have hunted with an AR-15 over the years. I used one when I lived in Michigan.

My hunting rifle is an AR-15. The upper receiver has been swapped to shoot a beefier round since a 5.56/.223 round is not an ideal hunting round. It puts food on the table. When I get home, I put the 5.56/.223 upper receiver back on and it goes back into home defense mode. If someone were to break into my house, it would be the first thing I reach for.

There, I’ve just given you 2 legitimate purposes for civilian use. Of course there is always zombies or Russians, but that would be stretching the definition of “legitimate”

Good hunting Wyoming. I hear Wyoming is very good for that. Texas is too. What we have to watch out for is the deer running out in front of us. They don’t read the deer crossing signs before crossing the road.

Sorry but I have to disagree with you Edwin as the argument made is a fallacy at best. The AR 15 platform can be used for many civilian purposes among them, target shooting, home defense, hunting…

So if there is a legitimate civilian use then the suit should be forever thrown out of court.

For these people a gun is an extension of their flawed, lacking personalities. It will never be taken away, and since the Supreme Court recently created a new law, legislating from the bench, which gave the individual the right to ownership of a gun, overturning centuries of established law, and the intention of the Founders, there is no real sense arguing about it until there is a sane, consistent supreme court again, which will be 30+ years. Just get ready for the days when felons, domestic abusers, and violent criminals are allowed to have guns again, because there is no rational reason for denying it based on the decisions by the supreme court in recent years.

These people will not quit until they find a judge who is willing to abrogate his oath, one who will put aside the law just to make this group happy and to appease the mob. Probably a judge with political aspirations.
Not every tragedy is subject to be compensable through the courts; not every accident is “someone’s” fault. The little monster killed his mother; broke into her safe; stole the weapon; then carried out his evil plan. Horrible ? Yes. Remington’s fault ? Of course not.

Jax Agent–there was no need for him to break into her safe…there were MULTIPLE guns/ammo throughout the house, unlocked, loaded, and ready to go. My next statement is going to piss a lot of people off but, oh well. I put the blame for 12/14/12 directly onto Nancy Lanza. It is HER fault that those babies and teachers were killed that day. She supplied her animal son with guns and ammo, allowed him to seclude himself in his room, tape black plastic bags over his windows, etc. She knew that he was mentally disturbed and did nothing about it..NOTHING but supply him with the weapons that he needed to carry out his destruction.

Just have to love reporters and editors who do not do their research. The AR15 semi automatic rifle was designed in 1956 and the M16 fully automatic variant to the basic design did not go into production until March of 1964. I agree that this is a chicken and an egg thing but if you are going to publish an article at least you could do a little basic research prior to publication.

Now as to the appeal it is again the right of the families to do this but again I say that the plaintiff attorney’s should be personally liable for the cost of defense when they loss once again. The law in this case could not be more straight forward as to intent.

I grew up in Newtown, CT. 12/14/12 is among the top three worst days of my life. It’s a shame that the families of the victims can’t find their peace. I can’t imagine that it would be easy for them to do, but there is healing in acceptance of what happened. I’m not saying forgiveness for what that animal did, but acceptance of a loss can certainly help in a quest for peace. I hope these families can find their peace, but bringing this to CT Superior Court is definitely not the place for them to find it.

C’mon Patti, why would it be one of the worst days in your life? According to Drumpf’s buddy, Alex Jones, it never happened.

I even agreed with one of your comments regarding how much of a shame it is they continue to look for peace.

At times like these when someone has lost his/her reason to use logic in an argument and choose to insult rather than have meaningful discourse, I just consider the source. I was trying to agree with you while providing an example of someone who denies this happened. Do you agree Alex Jones is far from truthful with his audience? Further, don’t you think it’s problematic our President considers this guy a friend and a media outlet he trusts?

I also lived in Newtown for a short time in the late ’70s-early ’80s, and attended kindergarten at Sandy Hook elementary. It was an absolute shock to see the school on the news that day…I cannot physically imagine the horror and sadness the victims’ families and your town has experienced.
