More Than 65K Power Outages Reported in Upstate New York

More than 65,000 power outages have been reported in upstate New York after high winds rattled the region.

Syracuse.com says 5,000 utility workers have been mobilized upstate.

WGRZ in Buffalo said lake-effect snow combined with wind gusting to 60 mph could greatly reduce visibility in some areas on Monday morning.

Hundreds of schools had cancellations or delays.

The wind also caused havoc around metropolitan New York City.

On Sunday, thousands lost power upstate. In Buffalo, two people were hurt by falling light poles.

An 86 mph gust was recorded Sunday on Whiteface Mountain in the Adirondacks. There were gusts of 74 mph at the Niagara Falls airport and 69 mph at the Buffalo airport.
