May 7, 2019

New York State Police have arrested Jonathan A Schuyler, 23, of Fort Plain, N.Y., for the felonies of arson in the third degree and insurance fraud in the third degree, according to a press release issued by The New York State Police.

The arrest was based on an investigation conducted by the New York State Department of Financial Services, in which it was determined that Schulyer had set his own vehicle on fire and reported it as an unknown accidental fire to his insurance company. The investigation found that an accelerant had been used to start the vehicle on fire, and Schuyler was responsible.

Schuyler was arraigned in the Town of Florida Court and released on his own recognizance and is due to appear in the Town of Minden Court at a later date.
