Duffy Insurance Agency, based in Lynn, Massachusetts, has acquired The Cowan Insurance Agency of Haverhill, also in Essex County.
The Cowan agency, founded in 1938, is a fourth generation family business now led by Stefanie (Cowan) Guillemette. The independent agency sells personal and commercial lines.
Guillemette said Cowan customers will enjoy additional product offerings and insurance company options as a result of the deal.
Terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 1996 by the late Paul Duffy and currently led by his son, Marc Duffy, Duffy Insurance Agency is also a family insurance agency that services personal and commercial insurance.
Duffy has grown in the state through acquisitions including deals with Byam Bros.-Mahoney Insurance Agency in Lowell; DeAngelis Trinity Insurance Agency in Framingham; Lauranzano Insurance Agency in Beverly; Boyd Neelon Insurance Agency in Sudbury; B&M Insurance Agency in Wakefield; Allan Insurance Agency in Salem; A.J. George Insurance Agency in Peabody; Charles A. Slee Insurance Agency in Marblehead; Barry and O’Connor in Lynn and N. Pingree Insurance Agency in Georgetown.
