Quincy, Massachusetts-based Arbella Insurance Group has opened a Bedford, New Hampshire commercial lines office.
The Bedford office gives Arbella its first official brick-and-mortar presence in the state, which the insurer says reflects the company’s growing New Hampshire business and its long-term commitment to its agents and customers there.
The insurer sells commercial insurance products in New Hampshire as well as in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. It also sells personal insurance products in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
“Our growth in New Hampshire has been building steadily, and the time is right to establish roots in the state,” said Bill Hughes, senior vice president and executive officer for commercial llnes.
Arbella said it chose Bedford for its central location and proximity to a number of industries it insures including contractors, habitational, commercial auto, restaurants, and manufacturing and processing risks.
In 2025, the company reported more than $1 billion in revenue including a $36 million increase from new commercial lines business, with a focus on New Hampshire. Overall 2025 was one of the company’s most profitable years as it achieved a 95.2 combined ratio and net income of $87.5 million.
